4 Jul 2010 Nazirite- a
special people
Pastor Jewel Blake Lumasag
Pastor Jewel touches on the subject of touching the poor as
acts of charity – as sweet incense. Their ministry to the neglected people,
the destitute, the widows and the poor especially children growing up in the
dumps. Only God’s spirit can heal them and give them a hope for the future.
In bible history, we learn about a certain group of people –
the Nazarite- a special people. These are people that God set apart,
prepare them for God’s work. Even the parents are required to follow strict
rituals to prepare them.
Samson was prepared by his parents before he delivers Israel.
Samuel judges Eli’s children because Eli fails in his duties as parents.
Samuel also enthrone and dethrone king. David was anointed . Elijah was able
to prove his God was more powerful by sending fire from heaven and even King
Naaman goes to him. John the Baptist died as a martyr.
What are the characteristics of a Nazirite:
-
Clean body ,
mind and heart and be filled with the Holy spirit
-
Maintain the
glory of God by prayer, meditation and fasting
-
Cannot touch
dead body- i.e remove the past, old works and old system – be renewed
-
Vows and
promise- be truthful and be the truth and light in our generations and
fulfilled the promises of God
Numbers 6:1-9
1 The LORD said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say
to them: 'If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of separation
to the LORD as a Nazirite, 3 he must abstain from wine and other fermented
drink and must not drink vinegar made from wine or from other fermented
drink. He must not drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins. 4 As long as
he is a Nazirite, he must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine,
not even the seeds or skins.
5 " 'During the entire period of his vow of separation no
razor may be used on his head. He must be holy until the period of his
separation to the LORD is over; he must let the hair of his head grow long.
6 Throughout the period of his separation to the LORD he must not go near a
dead body. 7 Even if his own father or mother or brother or sister dies, he
must not make himself ceremonially unclean on account of them, because the
symbol of his separation to God is on his head. 8 Throughout the period of
his separation he is consecrated to the LORD.
9 " 'If someone dies suddenly in his presence, thus defiling
the hair he has dedicated, he must shave his head on the day of his
cleansing—the seventh day.
Judges 13:2-5
2
A certain man of Zorah, named Manoah, from the clan of the Danites, had a
wife who was sterile and remained childless. 3 The angel of the LORD
appeared to her and said, "You are sterile and childless, but you are going
to conceive and have a son. 4 Now see to it that you drink no wine or other
fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean, 5 because you will
conceive and give birth to a son. No razor may be used on his head, because
the boy is to be a Nazirite, set apart to God from birth, and he will begin
the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Philistines."
1
Samuel 1:11
11 And she made a vow, saying, "O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon
your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give
her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life,
and no razor will ever be used on his head."
2nd Kings 1:7
7 The king asked them, "What kind of man was it who came to
meet you and told you this?"
Luke 1:13
13But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah;
your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you
are to give him the name John.
Eph 5:18
18Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.
Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
Rm 12:1-2
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to
offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is
your spiritual[a] act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern
of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you
will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and
perfect will.
James 5:12
12Above all, my brothers, do not swear—not by heaven or by
earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you
will be condemned.

Saved – To Serve
Gal
1:15-16
15But
when God, who set me apart from birth[a] and called me by his grace, was
pleased 16to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the
Gentiles, I did not consult any man,
1st
Cor 15:10
10But
by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without
effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God
that was with me.
True
religion minus the realities of Jesus or indoctrination minus grace – will
have no effect in and for the kingdom of God. If the saving grace of God is
real, then after sitting in sermons after sermons, we will start to serve.
Life of Paul and his experience of the saving grace should inspire us.
True worship leads to service. This is the manifestation of the grace of
God. Go serve your family, your neighbor and countryman- where God has
appointed you, go serve others. Once you have encounter and experience the
freedom, service should follow automatically. The grace of God can promote
rather than provoke us to serve- if the grace is real, we will start to
serve the people around us – to give testimony of the saving grace and God
‘s eternal life- not once a upon a time ( we used to do it) but to live for
Him for every moment in life. We are saved to serve and we serve to save
others ( the lost who do not know Jesus).
Touch- Be Transform
Isaiah
6:7-8
All
people have shortcomings and do make mistakes from time to time- but people
can be changed for the better when God touch them. As a result of inner
transformation- we are better equipped to perform as an individual to
greater heights and deeper depths. Jesus touch us – in different ways – by
way of a soft reminder or harsh confrontation- God can use people, events
and even crisis. God also permit unpleasant events, trials, and testing to
bring about inner transformation. We can see this in Isaiah’s commission.
Bless- to be a blessing
1st
Timothy 6:17-18
17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to
put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in
God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command
them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to
share.
I will
bless you- so that you will be a blessing. How do you deal with blessings-
hoard them or release them. Live simply so that others can simply live.
Prosperity comes with responsibility first to ourselves (that we will not be
carried away) and for those around us (You are blessed to give and blessed
is the giver). We must be careful in the way we handle God’s blessings.

The
seals of the Holy Trinity
When the spirit of truth reveal to those who are ready on the
blessed holy trinity - Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit not only on the
dispensing of grace but also the sealing of the believers to be His own.
Seal speaks of ownership and the Promise of eternal life .
GOD The Father
2 Cor 1:21-22
21Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in
Christ. He anointed us, 22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his
Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
James 1:12
12Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when
he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has
promised to those who love him.
2 Peter 3:3-5
3First of all, you must understand that in the last days
scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They
will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died,
everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." 5But they
deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the
earth was formed out of water and by water.
Philippians 1:6
6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Do not be shaken by scoffers of the last days and be steadfast
in the face of trials. As children of the light, we will not be caught like
a thief in the night but will be ready for the second coming of Christ. God
the father anoint us and establish us with spiritual insights and
revelations. Without anointing, our eyes will not see, our ears will not
hear and our heart will not be open to receive. God the father also seal us
and deposit His spirit within us as a source of strength- even as the
physical body groan and burden, and decay to dust one day, we shall at
the glorious day of the Lord- be transformed into a glorious and powerful
body. Until this day, people shall witness, receive and enjoy the promises
of God from the Old Testament to the New Testament – for the promises of God
is Yes and Amen.
2nd Cor 5:1-2
1Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed,
we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human
hands. 2Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly
dwelling,
JESUS The Son
Jesus receive the promise of the holy spirit and reality of
God and was promoted in heaven> Jesus also reminded that this very promise
is make possible to the gentiles/ and all believers that are to come
through Christ as uttered by God the Father. We may have been baptized or
partake of holy communion – but have we experience the promise of the Father
through Christ.
Eph 1:13-14
13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word
of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in
him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing
our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to
the praise of his glory.
Acts 2:33
33Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the
Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and
hear.
Gal 2:14
14When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth
of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you
live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force
Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?
Acts 8:15
15When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might
receive the Holy Spirit,
Acts 8:18-23
18When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of
the apostles' hands, he offered them money 19and said, "Give me also this
ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy
Spirit."
20Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because
you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21You have no part or
share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22Repent
of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for
having such a thought in your heart. 23For I see that you are full of
bitterness and captive to sin."
The Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is an explosive bomb to satan. Heavenly Father
give good gifts and one of the most valuable gift is the gift of the Holy
Spirit. You never receive because you never ask. Holy Spirit is to bring
the reality of Jesus Christ and the Father. This heavenly language is
recorded in the bible and we need to practice it and it will build you up
internally – though not intellectually. Just like they say-à
PHD- Permanent Head Damage – because too much learning may limit the
possibilities. The Holy Spirit also seal us, after being sealed, we must
watch our tongue and not grieve the spirit- with our foolish talk, our
speech or unwholesome behavior. We must use our tongue to build but not
destroy- be positive in our words so that we may grow in the grace and
revelation knowledge. In addition, do not get bitter because of rage, anger
or slander..etc – Just keep forgiving, be kind gentle and loving - the way
God- for the sake of Christ has forgiven us so that we are sealed until day
of redemption.
Eph 4:29-32
29Do
not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is
helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit
those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you
were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and
anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and
compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God
forgave you.
